A recent analysis of the reasons for sickness absence showed that nearly half of all absences had no reason given.
It is essential that the reasons for absence are recorded accurately as we need to target employee wellbeing initiatives appropriately and check if these are having an impact on absence, for example use of physiotherapy for musculoskeletal disorders and counselling for a mental ill health issue.
