I have severe asthma and arthritis among other disabilities which are hidden, for example, fibromyalgia. These conditions can make it difficult for me in terms of mobility and a cocktail of medication lowers my immune system.
It has taken me a long time to consider the conditions that impact on my daily life as disabilities as I originally saw it as ‘giving in’ and didn’t want a label that might suggest I am less than is some way. I have however now accepted this.
The council has helped me to continue working by allowing home working and work that reduces the need for driving.
I am relatively new to this group and looking forward to getting to know other people in similar situations.
Outside of work I enjoy my dog, Betty who gives me a reason to get up and walk. I love to meditate and use yoga to strengthen my joints. I have a caravan which I enjoy weekends away in.
