An organisation-wide learning needs analysis was undertaken as part of the learning and development review and key leadership themes emerged, along with ongoing requests for leadership development.
The first phase is to equip our leaders with a consistent set of essential core leadership skills with all line managers, creating a shared language to drive a culture of high performance and embed best practice. We have now in the process of designing, developing, and commissioning a leadership development programme which will be made available for all of our leaders across the council.

Leadership apprenticeships
We also offer leadership apprenticeships in partnership with the University of Derby and Derbyshire Adult Community Education (DACES) to support our leaders and managers as we move forward. These apprenticeships are run on a cohort basis.
