Caring for you

10 June 2025

It’s Carers Week from 9 to 15 June 2025 and we’re working with Derbyshire Carers Association (DCA) to highlight the support, advice and information available to help unpaid carers across the county

Many carers don’t see themselves as carers. They’re just doing what anyone would do to care for someone they love. But if you care for someone who couldn’t cope without your help, there’s a range of support to help you with your caring role.

DCA runs the Derbyshire All Age Carers Support Service on our behalf which offers a wide range of support, including:

  • an information and advice helpline
  • face to face, home visits and telephone support
  • carer assessments

If you’re a carer you have the right to one week’s unpaid leave per year, if providing or arranging care for someone with a long-term care need. Carers also have the ability to request flexible working from the moment they start their employment.
