In the UK, 13% of people have nothing in their savings while 33% said they would struggle to cover a month's worth of living expenses if they lost their primary source of income.
We're working in partnership with Derbyshire credit unions to offer our colleagues a way to save directly from their salary.
With a 'set and forget' method, you can arrange for a nominated amount each month to be sent to your credit union account each month on payday. There's no additional cost to either you or us for this scheme, plus savings are protected under the government backed Financial Services Compensation Scheme of up to £85,000 just like with a bank or building society.
You can save from as little as £1 per month from your pay and amounts can really add up.
Credit unions are run by the members for the members with any profits (after overheads) being passed back to members. All members also have the opportunity to attend an annual meeting to discuss and vote on how the credit union is operated.
