Domestic abuse

Violence and abuse in private, or public is unacceptable and can affect anyone, regardless of gender, sexuality, religion, race or disability.

Domestic abuse is any threatening behaviour, violence or abuse between adults who are or have been in a relationship, or between family members.

It can be psychological, physical, sexual, financial or emotional abuse.

Domestic abuse is rarely a one-off incident, but a pattern of power and control.

There is comprehensive information about domestic abuse on the Safer Derbyshire website. It includes staff guidance which will give you all the information and referral tools you need to assist a person when dealing with sexual or domestic violence.
