Mental health first aiders

Our mental health first aiders are a team of trained colleagues who can provide reassurance and help. They can also signpost you to the support you need.

Our confidential employee support service has been updated, and mental health first aiders can now be identified by their 'mental health first aider' or 'MHFA' green employee lanyards or by their email signature displaying 'mental health first aider'.

Our mental health first aiders are not counsellors and cannot diagnose conditions or provide ongoing support.

If you'd like to talk to one, you can approach them directly or drop them an email or Teams message. If you cannot find a mental health first aider, email mhfa.network@derbyshire.gov.uk and we'll try to connect you with someone.

If you need immediate medical help, telephone: 999.

For mental health or crisis support, contact NHS 111, telephone: 111 and choose option 2.

If you'd like to talk to someone confidentially, or need support with your mental wellbeing or wider issues like financial support, you can contact the employee assistance programme telephone: 0800 756 0834.

If you'd like to become a mental health first aider, find the next available mental health first aider training.

If you've completed the mental health first aider training, you can be added to our council employee wellbeing champion / mental health network, email heather.williamson2@derbyshire.gov.uk.
