Microsoft Office online

Employees can access Microsoft Office online using a personal computer, tablet or smartphone.


This is currently limited to the employee’s mailbox, but new features will be released from 2018 onwards.

Outlook gives you access to your work emails, calendars, contacts and tasks. You can check your emails, create a calendar appointment and set your out of office, and everything else that you can do in Microsoft Outlook.

You can access Microsoft Office Online by visiting Microsoft Office 365.

You'll need a:

  • smartphone, tablet, laptop or computer with internet access
  • @derbyshire.gov.uk email address and password
  • phone registered for multi-factor authentication

Laptops, computers and web browsers

You can access your mailbox by visiting Microsoft Office 365.

You’ll need to sign in with your @derbyshire.gov.uk email address and normal log on password.

Once you’ve entered your credentials you’ll be prompted for a 6-digit verification, which will be sent to the phone that you’ve nominated to use for multi-factor authentication.

Smartphones and tablets

In addition to accessing your mailbox via a web browser, smartphone and tablet you can optionally download the Microsoft Outlook app from their app store.

Once the Outlook app has been installed and launched you’ll need to sign in with your Derbyshire email address and normal log on password.

You’ll also be prompted to enter a verification code sent to the phone that you’ve nominated to use for multi-factor authentication.

The Outlook app stores your mailbox data locally on your mobile device. Therefore you'll need to agree to the following policies on your device when installing the app:

  • Outlook app will require a user set PIN to access the app
  • Outlook data will be encrypted on your device
  • we reserve the right to delete the data from your device
